Fact-Check

An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that the former Pakistani cricketer and ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan has not died. In reality, this false claim was spread, citing purported reports published on multiple free-domain blogspot sites, without any reliable evidence.

An investigation into the matter found links to multiple blog posts (1, 2) shared in the comments of the posts as sources. Rumor Scanner’s analysis reveals these sites, using free Blogspot domains like ‘onlinenewspaper24h.blogspot.com’ and ‘sportstimessy.blogspot.com’, appear to be bogus sites.

Two reports were found at these links with the headline, “Pakistan’s legendary former cricketer has passed away.”

These reports mention the death of former Pakistani cricketer Wazir Mohammad. No information about Imran Khan was found in these reports.

Notably, former Pakistani cricketer Wazir Mohammad passed away in Birmingham, England, on October 13.

Subsequently, monitoring Imran Khan’s official Facebook page found no post or information supporting the claim. Imran Khan is currently imprisoned in Pakistan’s Adiala Jail.

No news or information supporting the claim could be found in the media or any related sources.

It should be mentioned that Rumor Scanner’s Investigation Unit published a detailed report on these free domain sites, which showed that organized groups are working behind these free domains.

Therefore, the information being spread claiming that former Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan has died is false and fabricated.
