AI-Generated Video Falsely Claims First Flotilla Has Reached Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a naval initiative by international human rights activists carrying aid, began its journey from Barcelona, Spain, on August 31 to protest Israel’s recent illegal blockade of Gaza. Subsequently, from September 13 to 15, more vessels carrying aid joined the convoy from Tunisia, the island of Sicily in Italy, and the island of Syros in Greece. In this context, a video was circulated on social media on October 01 claiming that the first boat had reached Gaza.

Fact-Check

An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that the video circulated with the claim that the first boat reached Gaza is not real. In fact, the video in question was created with the help of artificial intelligence or AI technology.

While searching for the video’s origin, a possible first video on this topic was found, published on October 01 on a TikTok account named All In One. Upon careful review of the video, some AI-related inconsistencies are noticeable. However, this was not mentioned in the caption or the video description. Reviewing the account, several other videos were found from that time, which also appear to be AI-generated.

No such video of the Global Sumud Flotilla was found in any reliable sources during the investigation. Moreover, at the time the video was being circulated, i.e., on October 01, no vessel from the flotilla had reached the Gaza coast.

Subsequently, to confirm whether this video was created with the help of artificial intelligence, Rumor Scanner tested the video using the ‘AVSRDD (2025)’ model of the AI-generated content detection tool ‘Deepfake-O-Meter’. The model’s analysis showed that there is a 100 percent probability of the video being generated by AI.

Notably, a report from the national daily The Business Standard on October 03 states that Israel also detained The Marinete, the last ship of the ‘Global Sumud Flotilla’ convoy. Earlier, on October 2, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that at least 40 vessels from the Global Sumud Flotilla had been detained. Meaning, no vessel from this convoy was able to reach its intended destination (Gaza).

Therefore, an AI-generated video has been circulated with the claim that the first boat of the Global Sumud Flotilla reached Gaza; which is completely false.
