A video has recently spread across multiple social media platforms claiming that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been arrested. The video is being circulated as a report from the Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera. It shows Netanyahu in handcuffs, and ‘Free Palestine’ slogans can be heard from the surroundings. The purported news segment of the video states in English, “Yaron Benderel, the Prime Minister of Israel and leader of the Likud party, has been arrested in the capital on multiple charges of corruption. He was taken into custody tonight and will be brought before a judge in the morning. A crowd has gathered at the scene…”

Fact-Check
An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that the claim of Benjamin Netanyahu’s arrest is not true. In reality, this false claim is being spread using a fake video created with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, made to imitate an Al Jazeera news report.
An analysis of the claimed video shows that it uses Al Jazeera’s logo. Following this lead, Al Jazeera’s website and social media accounts (1, 2, 3) were checked, but no such report was found. Al Jazeera has not published any news regarding Benjamin Netanyahu’s arrest. If the arrest of an internationally prominent figure like Netanyahu were true, it would have been reported by global media, but no such news was found anywhere.
Upon further observation of the video, a watermark reading ‘Sora’ is visible. ‘Sora‘ is a video and audio generation model created by OpenAI, the US-based artificial intelligence research organization and owner of ChatGPT. This model is capable of creating realistic, physically accurate, and sound-integrated scenes. ‘Sora 2’, an advanced version based on the original 2024 Sora model, was released on September 30, 2025.
Furthermore, in the news segment of the video, Netanyahu’s name is incorrectly stated as ‘Yaron Benderel,’ which is commonly seen in AI-generated content.
To further confirm this, the video was analyzed on the AI-based content detection website Hive Moderation. The results showed a 99 percent probability that the video was created using AI technology.

Therefore, the claim of Benjamin Netanyahu’s arrest is completely false.
