In September of last year, Rumor Scanner Team investigated a Facebook profile named “Tamanna Aktar Yesmin.” The investigation revealed that the profile was using various photos and videos of UAE Minister of State Reem Al-Hashimy in a way that portrayed the profile holder as playing a significant role in international arenas on behalf of the Awami League.
Shortly after the report was published, the profile was removed from Facebook. Subsequently, a new profile named “Tamanna Akhter Yesman” was created with slight changes in the spelling of the name. This new profile is being operated in the same manner as the previous one, using old photos and videos of Reem Al Hashimy to promote the image of a powerful political figure.
An analysis of the profile’s Transparency Section on Facebook showed that it was created on November 24, 2024, and is being operated from Bangladesh. Within just seven months, the profile has gained over fourteen thousand followers.

The photos, videos, and descriptions on the profile may lead ordinary users to believe it belongs to an influential female leader supporting the Awami League in international circles. Posts suggest the profile holder is currently based in India, following the Awami League’s ousting from power in August 2024 due to an uprising, and occasionally meets Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her residence. The profile also claims interactions with foreign leaders visiting India and meetings with top global leaders during international trips.
However, investigations found no credible evidence to support these claims. Instead, it was observed that the profile is using old photos and videos of Reem Al-Hashimy’s activities to craft a different identity, presenting the profile holder as an internationally recognized, influential political figure. Details about where and when the profile holder traveled are also regularly shared.
For example, after Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus received the “King Charles III Harmony Award,” the “Tamanna Akhter Yesman” profile claimed that the profile holder also received this award. However, investigations confirmed this claim to be false, as no individual named “Tamanna Aktar Yesmin” received the award. The photos used in the profile were related to Dubai Police and Expo 2020 Dubai’s Guinness World Record achievement in 2022. Additionally, claims about being nominated for the award, meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi post-nomination, traveling to the UK, meeting King Charles III and his wife, and returning to India after international visits were also made, but all associated photos and videos were of Reem Al Hashimy.

Rumor Scanner Team closely monitored the “Tamanna Akhter Yesman” profile from June 1 to June 15, 2025. During this period, the profile made 103 posts, of which 79 were photo-based, 22 were video-based, one included both photos and videos, and one was text-only.
Of these 103 posts, 83 featured photos of UAE Minister of State Reem Al Hashimy, accounting for approximately 80% of the total posts. Content-wise, the most focus was given to Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, mentioned in 18 posts, or about 17% of the total. She was consistently portrayed positively. These posts included claims of her “acquittal” in an alleged case of fund misappropriation in the Rooppur project in a Russian court and the “dismissal” of alleged charges by the European Union against Sheikh Hasina, Saima Wazed, and Tulip Siddiq. Additionally, mentions of phone conversations and meetings with Sheikh Hasina were included.
Six posts were made regarding Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government. Three claimed cancellations of his scheduled meetings with foreign leaders, one alleged a ban by the Finnish government, and two mentioned meetings with the so-called “Tamanna.” In nearly all cases, Dr. Yunus was portrayed negatively.
Additionally, one post claimed that the UK’s intelligence agency imposed sanctions on the National Citizen Party (NCP). Another post alleged that BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, sent a letter requesting a meeting with “Tamanna.”
These posts are regularly shared in various Awami League-supporting Facebook groups to quickly reach their followers, increasing their reach and spreading beyond Facebook to other platforms like X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
To assess how much ordinary users believe these posts, five posts claiming meetings with international leaders were analyzed as samples. These posts mentioned meetings with the Prime Minister of Dubai, India’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Britain’s King Charles III and his wife, and the British Prime Minister.

The five posts received a total of 186 comments, with 183 expressing congratulations, praise, or good wishes, accounting for approximately 98% of the comments. Only one comment expressed doubt (0.54%), and two expressed opposing views (1.08%).
Analysis showed that the “Like” reaction was the most used, followed by the “Love” reaction. The analysis suggests that the information and claims propagated by the profile were deemed credible and acceptable by the majority of users.
