Recently, a video was circulated claiming that a teenage boy hit a woman, who appears to be of a mother’s age, with a cricket bat on the head at home and then took her smartphone and started using it himself. It was claimed that this incident took place in Bangladesh.

According to Rumor Scanner’s investigation, the video of the teenage boy attacking a woman at home with a bat to take her smartphone is not from Bangladesh, nor is it based on a real event. Rather, it’s a scripted or acted video produced by a Facebook page operated from India, and has been promoted misleadingly as a true event.
A Facebook page uploaded the video in question, called “IdeasFactory”, on November 1, 2024. The house’s interior in that video matches the setting seen in the circulated clip, matching features like the wall hangings, TV, and showcase.
The original video includes a disclaimer, stating: “Thanks for watching! Please remember this page shows scripted drama and dramatised presentations. These are for entertainment and educational purposes only.”
It’s clear from this that the video was created for entertainment and educational purposes.
Upon reviewing the IdeasFactory Facebook page, it is evident that the page regularly uploads videos with disclaimers. The page’s transparency section reveals that four individuals based in India manage it. The page was originally created on October 28, 2017, under the name “Whatanidea”, and was later renamed “IdeasFactory” on October 31, 2017.
However, the specific video falsely claimed as real in Bangladesh cannot currently be found on the IdeasFactory page. But, Indian fact-checking outlet BoomLive had already addressed this video on October 4, 2024, identifying it as scripted. BoomLive stated the video had been posted from the IdeasFactory page, accompanied by a disclaimer indicating that it was staged. However, the original post had been deleted by the page.
BoomLive has an archived version of the video, revealing that it had been uploaded on September 30, 2024.
So, it is confirmed that the video circulating with claims of a real event in Bangladesh is actually a scripted drama video produced in India.
