On the evening of August 10, an earthquake struck the Balıkesir province in northwestern Turkey. It measured 6.1 on the Richter scale. Following this, a video was broadcast in the media with the claim, “A young woman showed intelligence during the earthquake in Turkey.” The video shows a young woman sitting under a table as soon as the earthquake starts to protect herself.

Fact-check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation found that the circulated video is not from the earthquake in Turkey on August 10. The video has been available online since April 7, at least four months before the incident.
By reverse-searching multiple keyframes of the video shared with the discussed claim, a video post was found on an Instagram account with the username poncikledin on April 7. Comparing the video in question with the one circulated in the claim reveals identical scenes. However, the post did not mention where or when the video was recorded.

Furthermore, the investigation found that the video was also shared from an X account with the username 4FdAmusita on April 9. It was also found to have been shared in June.
Although it has been confirmed that the circulated video is not from the recent earthquake in Turkey, it could not be determined exactly when and where it was recorded.
Therefore, a video that is at least four months old has been circulated claiming to show the earthquake in Turkey on August 10; this is misleading.
