Recently, a couple photo, along with an image showing the same woman with injuries, has gone viral on social media. The posts claim that the woman was Hindu and was in a relationship or married to a Muslim man, who abused her and caused the injuries seen in the photo. These images are being circulated to push a narrative of a so-called ‘love jihad’.

Fact-Check
Rumor Scanner Investigation confirmed that the woman in the photo is a born Muslim, not Hindu. She was not abused by her husband; rather, she was recently injured in an accident. In fact, her husband posted the photos on her account to inform others about the incident. However, Hindutva accounts later misused these images, spreading false claims of so-called ‘love jihad.’ Therefore, the narrative being circulated is completely false.
While investigating, we found a Facebook post by a user named Adrita Azad Reety. After reviewing her Facebook profile, we confirmed that she is indeed the woman seen in the viral photos. In the post, she shared several screenshots and refuted the false claims being circulated using her image.
The caption of the post, translated from Bengali, reads: “I am a born Muslim. I had an accident yesterday, and Hindutva supporters are spreading false information using my photo. Please stop spreading misinformation. I am physically very unwell, and my husband and I can no longer bear this mental stress.”
We later found the original post where the injured woman’s photos were first shared on her Facebook profile. Her husband had posted them to update friends and family about her condition after an accident. This clearly shows that the photos are not linked to any abuse, as falsely claimed in the viral posts.
The caption reads: “I’m Reety’s husband. Reety had an accident yesterday evening. A boy was skating on the road behind Sony Cineplex wearing a helmet and suddenly crashed into her. The boy’s helmet hit her right eye directly, and at that moment, her eyeglass shattered on her eye. Her right eye and the area around it were injured. The inside of the right side of her nose also tore, causing intense bleeding like a running tap. I rushed her to the hospital immediately.”
By morning, the bleeding from her nose had stopped, but now the clotted blood is draining into her throat and coming out through her mouth when she spits. From the right side of her forehead down to the bottom of her cheek, the entire area is completely numb. Even when I touch her right cheek, she can’t feel any sensation at all. The second picture was taken last night, and the first one is from today.
Reety narrowly escaped a far worse outcome. If the glass shards had gone deeper into her eye, she could have lost her vision permanently. Allah truly protected her. She’s currently resting. Please keep her in your prayers for a full and speedy recovery.”
For further confirmation, we were able to collect her National Identity Card, which shows that both of her parents are Muslim. This confirms that she is a Muslim by birth.
Therefore, the posts circulating her photos and portraying her as a victim of so-called “love jihad”—claiming she is Hindu, a converted Muslim, or was injured due to abuse by her husband—are completely false.
