Rumor Scanner’s investigation revealed that the videos do not depict the killing of an elderly Hindu man by Muslims in Bangladesh .In reality, the footage depicts the politically motivated murder of Shahidul Islam Hiron, a Muslim and former chairman of Porahati Union in Jhenaidah, Bangladesh. After Hiron’s murder in August, his body was tied to a statue and hung at Paira Chattar.
The team traced two videos posted on August 5 from Facebook accounts Rukun Shehaby Rokon and RJ Moon:

Both posts claimed the body belonged to Hiron, the chairman of Jhenaidah’s Porahati Union.
A keyword search led to a Dhaka Post article published on August 5 titled “The Controversial Hiron Chairman Couldn’t Escape Even After Being Shot”:
According to the report, on August 5, Shahidul Islam Hiron and his driver Akhtar Hossain were brutally killed by a mob in Jhenaidah. The mob then hung Hiron’s body at Paira Chattar, the central town square.
Another report published the same day by Kalbela stated that Hiron’s house was surrounded by protesters, who were fired upon, resulting in several injuries. In retaliation, the mob set the house ablaze, killing Hiron and three others. Hiron’s body was later taken to Paira Chattar.
To verify the claim further, the Rumor Scanner team compared Google Map images of Paira Chattar/Paira Cir (View here) with the circulating videos. The analysis confirmed that the structures visible in the videos matched the location precisely.
Conclusion
The claim circulating in India that the video shows a Hindu man being beaten and hung by Muslims is false. The footage actually shows the politically motivated murder of Shahidul Islam Hiron, a Muslim Awami League chairman, in Jhenaidah, Bangladesh.
