Recently, a claim is being circulated on social media along with a photo of a woman, stating that “Bangladesh is increasingly unsafe for minorities as jihadist and Jamaat-Shibir terrorism persists. Every day, they are attacking minority people, raping young girls, and killing them.” In other words, the claim suggests that the situation in Bangladesh is becoming increasingly dangerous for minorities due to ongoing acts of terrorism by jihadist and Jamaat-Shibir groups.

Fact Check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation found that the claim of the woman being raped and murdered by Jamaat-Shibir members is false. The woman shown in the circulated photo was not from a minority community; she was a Muslim and died in a road accident.
During the investigation, a Facebook post from a page named Satkania’s Mazlum dated April 4 was found. The woman in this post matches the one in the viral claim.
The post states that a woman died after a bus crashed into an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the Bortakia Bypass area. The identity of the deceased young woman was unknown at the time, and her body was kept at Bortakia Radiance Hospital.
Later, a report titled “SSC examinee killed in bus collision in Mirsharai” was published on the national daily Samakal’s website on April 5. The photo in this report also matches the woman in the viral post.
According to the report, Sadia Yasmin Juthi, an SSC examinee, was killed after being hit by a speeding bus at the Bartakia Bypass in Mirsarai, Chattogram. The accident occurred around 8:30 PM on April 4 on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway near the Bartakia U-turn area in Mirsarai upazila. Juthi was the daughter of Ripon from the East Polmogra Station area of Khoiyachora Union and was a student of Abul Kashem Girls’ High School.
In other words, the woman was neither raped nor murdered by Jamaat-Shibir members. She died in a road accident. Furthermore, she was not from a minority community but was a Muslim.
Conclusion
Therefore, the photo of a Muslim woman who died in a road accident is being falsely used to claim that a minority woman was raped and murdered by Jamaat-Shibir members. This claim is completely false.
