Fact-Check
Rumor Scanner’s investigation reveals that the claim of Al-Hikmah Mosque remaining intact in the Los Angeles wildfire is false. In fact, this claim is based on artificially generated images created using artificial intelligence (AI). Moreover, there is no record of a mosque named “Al-Hikmah” existing in Los Angeles.
Upon close observation of the image, a faint watermark reading “Islamic…” is visible in the bottom-left corner. This led to the discovery of a video titled “Allahu Akbar, White Mosque Saved from Los Angeles Fire” published on January 12 by a YouTube channel named “Islamic Vibes.” (Watch the video here).
The video claims that a white mosque remained intact amidst the wildfire. At the 3:54 mark (watch here), the mosque is identified as “Masjid Al-Hikmah,” and the images discussed are displayed throughout the video. This indicates that the claim of Al-Hikmah Mosque surviving the wildfire originated from this video.
However, the video contains a description labeled “Altered Content.” On YouTube, this label is used to indicate content that has been digitally created or altered. (Details about the label can be found here.) Creators can enable this label via the “Altered Content” settings in YouTube Studio during upload.

Additionally, multiple residents of Los Angeles refuted the claim in the video’s comment section. One user commented: “This is untrue. I live in LA. Please take this down. Masjid al Taqwa in Altadena burnt down. Are you referring to King Fahad or ICSC as the white masjid? Those are far from the fires. Please stop making Islam look bad. Islam doesn’t promote lies. Subhan’Allah”

This comment is consistent with reports from multiple reliable sources (Source 1, Source 2), which confirm that the Masjid Al-Taqwa in Altadena, Los Angeles, was completely destroyed in the wildfire. Fundraising efforts (details here) have already begun for its reconstruction.
Furthermore, no mosque named Al-Hikmah exists in Los Angeles. However, mosques with this name are located in New York, USA, and Aberdeen, Scotland.

Conclusion
The claim that a mosque named Al-Hikmah survived the Los Angeles wildfire has been thoroughly investigated. No mosque by this name exists in Los Angeles, and the images were confirmed to be AI-generated. Therefore, the claim is false.
