Fact-check

The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation found that the claim of Litton Kumar Das being dropped from the squad for the Asia Cup Super Four match against India for being a Hindu is incorrect. In reality, Bangladesh’s match against India was held on September 24. Two days prior, on September 22, Litton Das sustained a rib injury during practice. Due to that injury, Litton Kumar Das did not get a place in the playing eleven.

An investigation led to a report published on the Prothom Alo website on September 22, titled “Litton injured in practice before the India match,” which states that Litton Das sustained a rib injury during batting practice before the match against India on September 22.

Additionally, due to this injury, Litton Das was also unable to play in the match against Pakistan on September 25. Jaker Ali Anik captained the team in the matches against India on September 24 and against Pakistan on September 25.

Because of this injury, Litton Kumar Das is also unable to participate in the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan, which is scheduled to begin on October 2. A national team official told the media that he will have to stay out of the field for at least three weeks.

Therefore, due to injury, Litton Kumar Das is unable to participate in the last two matches of the Asia Cup Super Four and the ongoing series against Afghanistan.

Furthermore, a search using relevant keywords found no information in the media or any reliable sources to support the claim in question.

Thus, The claim that Litton Das was excluded from Bangladesh’s squad for the Asia Cup Super Four match against India due to his religion is entirely false
