Fact-check
Rumor Scanner team’s investigation found that the image circulated with the claim of showing an Israeli refugee camp is not real. Rather, the image was created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
At the beginning of the investigation, a reverse image search method was used to look for the image. However, no reliable sources could be found showing this image in the context of the Iran-Israel conflict.Later, upon analyzing the image, the Rumor Scanner team identified multiple AI-related inconsistencies. Though the Israeli flag in the image shows two Stars of David, in reality it has only one. Additionally, some individuals in the image have physical distortions: someone’s foot appears uneven, while another’s hands and feet are disproportionately sized. The tents in the upper right corner of the image appear structurally abnormal and seem to blend into each other.

To further confirm the matter, the image was tested on the AI-detection website Sightengine, which showed a 99% probability that the image was AI-generated.

Therefore, an AI-generated image falsely claiming to depict an Israeli refugee camp amid the Israel-Iran conflict is entirely false.
