Rumor Scanner Team’s investigation found that the circulated video is neither from recent times nor from any temple in Bangladesh. Rather, the video of a theft in a temple in Assam, India, on May 26, 2024, has been circulated with the discussed claim.

Additionally, in the investigation, on the website of India-based news outlet ‘India Today NE’, a report (link) published on May 26, 2024, about the same video was found. Around 3:30 a.m., the theft took place when it is assumed no one was present in the temple. The thieves entered the temple and stole a crown made of approximately 10 bhori gold and 750 grams of silver, along with other valuable items. The estimated value of the stolen ornaments is around 1 million rupees. Police arrived at the scene and began an investigation. CCTV footage from the temple shows that a total of three thieves were involved in the theft. Although their faces were partially unclear, one of them could be clearly identified.” (translated)
