Recently, a video has been circulating on social media suggesting that a Hindu man’s body was found in a pond in Bangladesh, killed for refusing to convert to Islam.
A social media account, @FarazPervaiz3, on X (formerly Twitter), posted the video with the caption: “A #Hindu Man’s Body Found in Pond; Islamist Kills Father for Refusing to Convert to #Islam in Bangladesh.

Rumor Scanner’s investigation confirms the claim is false. The individual found in the pond was a Muslim, not a Hindu, and the incident dates back to August, not recent. The video of this old incident has been falsely communalized and circulated to depict Hindu persecution by portraying him as Hindu.
Through investigation, we found the same video clip on a Facebook account named Ahamed Nawaz, who is from the same area as the incident on August 26. The video was accompanied by a Bengali caption, which translated as: ‘Saikat, the son of Dulal Bhai from the Mirzapur Sujjat Ali Bepari family, is no longer with us. Inna-lillah.’
We also came across two comments from the post’s author. One of them included a photo of the young man with a prayer, while another comment read: ‘In Mirzapur village of Monohorgonj Upazila, Comilla, a young boy named Soikat, the middle son of Dulal Mia from Sujjat Ali’s household, tragically drowned in floodwaters. May Almighty Allah grant him Jannah (Ameen).’
The comment confirms that the young man featured in the video tragically passed away by drowning in floodwaters this August, and he was the son of Dulal Mia.
Further investigation led us to a report on the incident published on August 27. The report stated, “Mahbub Alam Soikat (13), the middle son of Mohammad Dulal Mia, a Saudi Arabia expatriate from the Mirzapur Sujjat Ali family in Monohorgonj, Comilla, tragically died by drowning.
It is reported that Mahbub Alam Saikat had been suffering from epilepsy. Yesterday afternoon, while returning home from the new market in Norharipur, he fell into floodwaters that had submerged roads, ponds, and ditches, including the water on the western bank of a pond.
After an extensive search, he was found floating in a nearby canal at 8 PM last night.”
To sum up, a Muslim boy named Mahbub Alam Soikat tragically died by drowning in floodwaters in August. Recently, a video of the boy’s body being carried by locals was falsely shared, portraying him as a Hindu and claiming that he was killed by Muslims for refusing to convert to Islam—which is totally false.
