Recently, a photo of a woman was circulated on social media claiming:
“A married Hindu woman has been missing since July 13 from the New Bridge area under Baklia Police Station in Chittagong. She has two small children. Her family is deeply worried and heartbroken… #SaveBangladeshiHindus” (translated).
Additionally, some posts stated:
“A married Bangladeshi Hindu woman and mother of two has gone missing without a trace. This is not Gaza or Syria. That’s why there’s no headline, no outrage. Just another Hindu.”
In other words, the claim has been spread with a communal angle.

Fact-check
Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the woman in question is named Joya Mollik. Her disappearance had no communal link. In fact, suffering from mental health issues, she had voluntarily left home. She was later found safe and sound.
A reverse image search of the photo used in the circulated claim led to a post made on July 14 by a Facebook account named “Shree Sagar Debnath”. The post includes two photos, one of which exactly matches the image used in the communal claim posts.

The post reads:
“Missing Person Report | Name – Joya Mollik, Address – Chattogram. This woman has been missing since 4 PM on July 13 (Sunday) from the Bastuhara Satsang Bihar area adjacent to New Bridge under Baklia Police Station in Chattogram. She was mentally ill. No trace of her has been found so far. The missing woman has two young children. Her family is spending their days extremely worried and grief-stricken…”
Later, in the comment section of the same post, the poster stated:
“Finally, with everyone’s collective support, the missing sister has been found. Her family is bringing her home safely. Huge thanks and gratitude to everyone who shared and helped. She was found around 9 PM tonight in the Aziz Nagar area, between Chunati and Harbang in Cox’s Bazar district. 14/07/2025.”
Further investigation also uncovered another “missing person” post made on July 14 by a Facebook account named “Chandan Kumar Shil Chandan”. The same poster later shared on July 15 that the woman had been found on July 14. This post also mentioned that the woman was mentally unwell.
To verify further, Rumor Scanner team spoke with Korobi Sen, sister of the missing woman Joya Mollik. She confirmed,
“Joya Mollik was found on July 14. She has mental health issues and left on her own. There was no abduction or communal motive involved.”
Conclusion:
The incident of a woman named Joya Mollik leaving her home due to mental health issues was misrepresented as a communal disappearance; this claim is misleading.
