The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the woman in the discussed photo with Dr. Yunus is not his ex-wife; rather, she is his eldest daughter, Monica Yunus.
In an investigation into the photo, the same image is found in a 2017 article about Dr. Yunus published on a website called “Londoni”. The website states that the photo is of Dr. Yunus and his eldest daughter, Monica Yunus.
Additionally, by comparing the woman’s facial features with other photos available on Monica Yunus’s Facebook page, a match was found.
According to the Grameen Bank website, Dr. Muhammad Yunus met Vera Forostenko in 1967 at Vanderbilt University in the United States, and they married in 1970. After the birth of their daughter Monica Yunus in 1979, their marital relationship ended shortly thereafter. Monica is currently an opera singer residing in New York. Later, Dr. Yunus married Afrozi Yunus, a physicist, who later entered academia. They have one daughter together, Dina Afroze Yunus.
In other words, although Vera Forostenko is indeed Dr. Yunus’s ex-wife, the discussed photo is of Dr. Yunus and his daughter Monica Yunus.
