Recently, a video has been circulated by multiple Indian X handles with the caption, “This is Bangladesh. Where is Greta?”, claiming to show a scene of a polluted, garbage-filled port in Bangladesh.

Fact-check
An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that the circulated video is not from any port in Bangladesh. Instead, a video of the Annaba port in Algeria has been circulated with the claim in question.
While investigating the matter, this video was found in multiple posts (1, 2, 3, 4) on various internet platforms, where it was claimed to be a scene from the Annaba port in Algeria.

Subsequently, a video was found in a post published on August 20 on the Facebook page of the Morocco-based media outlet Achtari 24. This video bears a resemblance to the circulated video.

The caption of the post reveals that in the video, an Algerian citizen is expressing his anger over the water pollution at the country’s Annaba port.
Regarding the same issue, the same visuals and information were found in a video published on August 20 on the YouTube channel of another Morocco-based media outlet, MA5 TV.
To further confirm the matter, Rumor Scanner contacted Algerian fact-checker Nozha Khelalef. She investigated the video and confirmed that it shows the Annaba port in Algeria. She also shared the geolocation of the specific location with Rumor Scanner, which confirms that the place in the video is indeed the Annaba port in Algeria.

She added, the person speaking can be heard in the video apologizing for a comparison he seems to have previously made with allegedly polluted Bangladeshi ports, saying that ports in Bangladesh are actually cleaner than Annaba. She further added that the person recording is complaining about how polluted the port is, noting that boat owners pay 14,000 DZD per month only to be met with garbage.
Therefore, a video of the Annaba port in Algeria has been circulated with the false claim that it shows a polluted port in Bangladesh.
