Fact-Check
An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team revealed that the woman in the video is not from Bangladesh but from Medinipur, West Bengal, India. The incident happened when her son ran away with a Muslim woman due to a romantic relationship. Angry about this, the woman’s family attacked his home and injured his mother. The video shows this attack.
The investigation reviewed the post sharing the claim and found that the video was credited to an X account named “Avroneel Hindu.” The original post from this account stated, “In Shyamsundar village under the jurisdiction of Nandakumar police station in East Medinipur district, West Bengal, local Muslim extremists attacked a Hindu boy’s house because he had married a Muslim woman. They vandalized his home and injured his mother.”

Upon further investigation, a video report titled “A Mother Beaten Due to Her Son’s Illicit Relationship” was found on the YouTube channel Banglar Kotha, published on December 22. The report identified the injured woman as Shankari Bhuiya. It revealed that her son, Shubhankar Bhuiya, had been in a four-year romantic relationship with a Muslim woman named Firoza Khatun. Even after Firoza was married to someone else six months earlier, their relationship continued. About a month ago, the couple eloped. Unable to find their daughter, Firoza’s family attacked Shubhankar’s home, injuring his mother.
Conclusion
The video showing the assault on a Hindu woman in West Bengal, India, was falsely circulated as an incident from Bangladesh. The claim is entirely false.
