A video circulating on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) claims to depict an attack on Hindus in Bangladesh. Posts accompanying the video state in English: “Hindus are under attack in Bangladesh. May Mother Durga give our brothers and sisters the strength to fight against Islamic terrorists. We are posting these videos to raise awareness among Hindus of the real situation.”

Fact-Check
After investigating, the Rumor Scanner team found that the video does not show an attack on Hindus. Instead, it captures an incident where Hindu community members vandalized the shop of a Muslim businessman, Md. Osman, in Chattogram’s Hazari Lane area.
To verify, Rumor Scanner analyzed key frames from the video, conducted a reverse image search, and located a report by Chattogram Tribune. The Tribune’s YouTube channel features the same footage in a video titled, “ISKCON statement by Mahmudur Rahman shared: Muslim businessman’s shop attacked in Chattogram’s Hazari Lane” (source). This report confirmed that the video shows an attack on a Muslim-owned shop.

Further details were provided in a report by Prothom Alo (source), which explained that on November 5, Md. Osman shared a Facebook post calling for the banning of the religious organization ISKCON. This post angered some members of the Hindu community, leading to the attack on Osman’s shop.
Multiple Bangladeshi news channels also covered the incident, including Ekattor TV (source), Independent TV (source), and Jamuna TV (source), all of which broadcast footage matching the viral video.
Conclusion
The viral video circulated as evidence of an attack on Hindus in Bangladesh actually shows a November 5 incident where a group from the Hindu community in Chattogram’s Hazari Lane vandalized the shop of Md. Osman, a Muslim businessman. This misrepresentation has led to a spread of false information on social media.
