Fact Check

Rumor Scanner team’s investigation revealed that the circulated video is not footage of an Iranian attack on Mossad’s headquarters; rather, it is a fake video generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

No credible media outlets or trustworthy sources have reported the existence of this video.

Upon analysis, the Rumor Scanner team identified multiple AI-related inconsistencies in the video. An ambulance can be seen below the building even before the missile strikes, which does not match real-world scenarios. Moreover, after the building collapses, the ambulances remain entirely intact. The visuals of the missile, smoke, debris, and structural damage also appear artificially generated. Some missiles abruptly appear in the frame, which is inconsistent with reality.

A watermark labeled ‘Veo’ is visible in the bottom-right corner of the video. Investigations reveal that ‘Veo’ is an advanced AI tool developed by Google that can create 8-second realistic videos from text prompts. The video in question is also 8 seconds long.

To further verify, the video was analyzed using AI content detection platform Hive Moderation, which estimated a 99% probability that the video was AI-generated.

Additionally, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has claimed responsibility for an attack on the headquarters of Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, and said they set fire to a base. However, the video published by Tasnim News Agency bears no resemblance to this AI-generated footage. According to the IRGC, the incident took place on June 16, but the circulating video was already being shared online before that date.

Conclusion

A video generated using AI is being falsely circulated on social media, claiming to show an Iranian hypersonic missile strike. This claim is entirely false.
