Fact-Check

Rumor Scanner’s investigation revealed that the viral video is not actual footage of a tsunami taken from 30,000 feet. Rather, it is a fake video created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

In the course of the investigation, the same video was found on a TikTok profile named ‘t.ho.m.1.1.02’: link. The video description includes the hashtag ‘#aiart’.

Further browsing of the same profile revealed several more videos created using AI.

Subsequently, the video was tested using the AI content detection tool Hive Moderation, which determined there is an 89.7% likelihood that it was created using AI.

Therefore, a video generated by AI has been falsely circulated as real footage of a tsunami taken from 30,000 feet, which is false.
