Fact-check
Upon investigation by the Rumor Scanner team, it was found that the video showing a young man being hacked in public is not from Bangladesh. Instead, it is from Mumbai, India.
In the investigation, by reverse-searching keyframes from the video, a post was found on the Facebook page of Mumbai-based local media outlet ‘gallinews_com’, published on July 2, 2025, that matches the circulated video.

The caption of that video states (translated): “An incident of stabbing occurred inside Falguni Building in Antop Hill. A dispute broke out between two friends over some issue, and at one point, one attacked the other with a sharp weapon. The injured youth was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.”
Later, on July 3, 2025, Indian news outlet Times Now published a report titled “‘Sleeping With My Woman?’ Mumbai Man Attacked With Sword-Like Weapon Over Relationship Dispute” regarding this incident.
The report stated: “A horrific incident occurred on July 2 in Wadala (East), Mumbai. A young man was brutally attacked with a sword-like weapon over a relationship dispute. According to eyewitnesses, the accused angrily confronted the victim asking, ‘Are you having an affair with my wife?’ Moments later, he launched a terrifying attack. The victim suffered deep wounds to the neck, face, right arm, and back.”
Similar information was also reported by other Indian media outlets (1, 2).
It is worth noting that while mainstream Indian media referred to the victim as Shahrukh, local media referred to him as Shravan. Also, while local outlets claimed the victim had died, no confirmation of his death could be found in the mainstream outlets. However, regardless of whether he died or not, it is confirmed that the incident did not take place in Bangladesh.
Conclusion
The incident of a young man being hacked in public in Mumbai, India, has been falsely circulated as an event that occurred in Bangladesh. This claim is false.
