Fact Check

An investigation by Rumor Scanner revealed that the video does not depict any incident of forced conversion of a Hindu monk to Islam. Instead, it documents a humanitarian effort to assist an individual, who was found wandering the streets in a distressed condition, by cleaning and caring for him.

Further investigation revealed that the original video was published on October 26 by a YouTube channel named Mahbub Creation 4. The video is accessible here. The video content closely matches the one being circulated with the false claim.

However, no detailed information about the individual was found in the video.

On the same day, the video was also shared on a Facebook page with the same name. You can find the Facebook post here. The caption of the post clarified that the individuals featured in the video assisted the man due to his deteriorated physical and mental condition.

An examination of the Facebook page revealed that the group frequently posts videos showcasing similar initiatives. Their efforts center on assisting vulnerable and mentally distressed individuals found wandering the streets.

On December 9, the Facebook page hosted a live video featuring one of the individuals involved in the disputed footage. The live session, which is available here, clarified that the man and his family are Muslims. The claim of forcibly converting a Hindu monk is entirely false. It was further mentioned that their video was being misused in India to spread false propaganda.

Conclusion

The claim that a Hindu monk was forcibly converted to Islam is entirely false. The video documents a humanitarian effort to assist a distressed individual and has been misused to spread disinformation.
