Recently, a video titled “New Project for Bangladeshi Citizens” has been circulated on social media. It claims that the government has launched an investment platform where a citizen can earn approximately 120 million BDT per month, and that Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice Chairman of the National Consensus Commission formed by Bangladesh’s interim government, is giving an interview on the matter. Additionally, the video claims that by investing just 30,500 BDT, one can be guaranteed to earn around 120 million BDT per month.

Fact Check
Rumor Scanner’s investigation reveals that the claim stating the government has launched an investment platform and that investing 30,500 BDT will generate massive profits is baseless. In reality, the video in question has been manipulated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. A clip from an actual interview with Professor Dr. Ali Riaz—aired on the domestic electronic media outlet Ekattor TV—was distorted to promote the false claim.
At the beginning of the investigation, a reverse image search of a still image from the video led to a YouTube video published on June 9 by the local electronic media channel Ekattor TV, titled “Dr. Ali Riaz Face-to-Face on Questions Inside Reform.”

Although the visuals of the circulated video and the original 8-minute-34-second video appear similar, there are discrepancies in the audio (voice). In the actual interview, Dr. Ali Riaz made no comments regarding such an investment initiative.
Furthermore, when observing the video promoting the false claim, signs such as mismatched voice, unnatural lip movements, and inconsistencies in natural presentation are noticeable—none of which are present in the original interview.
Subsequently, a search using relevant keywords in both local and international news media, as well as other credible sources, turned up no information or evidence about any such investment initiative by the government.
To further confirm the nature of the video, Rumor Scanner ran it through the Deepfake-o-meter tool. All three models used by the tool scored the likelihood of AI-generated content above 95%. Specifically, the ‘AVSRDD (2025)’ model determined the video to be 100% likely created with AI.

Conclusion
Therefore, a deepfake video of Dr. Ali Riaz has been falsely presented on social media as an interview in which he claims that the government has launched an investment platform—this claim is entirely false.
