Fact-Check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation revealed that the child in the circulated incident is not Hindu, but Muslim. Her name is Roza Moni. She is the daughter of Mohammad Suman Mia.
During the investigation, a report titled “Child’s Body Recovered 5 Days After Disappearance” was published on July 11 on the website of mainstream media outlet Somoy News. The report contains a photo of a child that matches the image shared in the claimed posts, confirming that the viral post refers to this specific child.

The report states: “A child’s body was recovered from a jute field 5 days after she went missing while playing near her home in Kishoreganj. On Friday (July 11), police recovered the half-decomposed body of a six-year-old child named Roza Moni from a jute field behind her home.”
The report further states: “The deceased, Roza Moni, is the daughter of Mohammad Suman Mia from Char Maria village of Maria Union in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila.”
Additionally, the report mentions that the child’s paternal cousin is named Naim Mia.
Similar reports with the same information were also published on July 11 on the websites of other mainstream media outlets such as RTV and Kalbela.
Furthermore, another report published on the website of mainstream outlet Ajker Patrika states that the deceased child’s grandmother’s name is Gulnahar Begum.
That means, based on the names of the deceased child Roza Moni and her family members, it is evident that all of them are Muslims, confirming that Roza Moni was a Muslim child from a Muslim family.
It is noteworthy that in the viral posts claiming this incident, along with the photo of Roza Moni, there is also an image resembling a jute field. While this jute-field-like image has appeared in various Facebook posts connected to the claim, no media source could fully verify it.
Conclusion
An incident involving the death of a Muslim child, Roza Moni, from a Muslim family has been circulated as the death of a Hindu child—this is misleading.
