Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, arrived in Dhaka on August 23rd for a two-day visit. In this context, a video has been circulated on social media with the caption, “Some of the bastard children of Jinnah left behind in Bengal are going to greet the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister.”

Fact-Check
An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that no procession was held to greet the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister during his visit to Dhaka. Instead, a video of a surprise procession by the banned organization Chhatra League in the Shahbagh and Katabon areas on June 16th has been circulated with the false claim.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the video led to an identical video posted on June 16, 2025, on a Facebook account named ‘Bangladesh Awami League.’

The caption of that video claimed it showed a Chhatra League procession on the Dhaka University campus.
Following up on this information, a keyword search led to a report published on the same day on the website of the national daily Kalbela, titled “Cocktail explosion from banned Chhatra League’s surprise procession, 1 arrested.”
The report states that in the early hours of June 16th (Monday), the banned organization Chhatra League held a flash procession in the area between Shahbagh and Katabon intersections in the capital. The Shahbagh police arrested one person in connection with the incident. During the procession, a cocktail was reportedly detonated in front of the pocket gate of Bangabandhu Hall, adjacent to Shahbagh road.
At the time, various national media outlets also published news about this incident (1, 2, 3).
Therefore, a video of a flash procession by Chhatra League in Dhaka’s Shahbag and Katabon areas last June was circulated as a procession in Bangladesh welcoming Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, which is false.
