Fact-check

Upon investigation by the Rumor Scanner team, it was found that the circulated video of the conflict is not from Bangladesh. A video showing a conflict that took place over a land dispute between two families in the Pratapgarh area of India is being falsely circulated as an incident from Bangladesh.

Through reverse image search during the investigation of the discussed video, the same video was found posted on June 29 by an X (formerly Twitter) account named Ldutva Knight commentory.

Translating the video’s title into English reveals that the video depicts a conflict between two parties stemming from a land dispute in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. The post also claims that five people were arrested in connection with the incident.

Following up on this lead, a keyword search led to a report on the same incident published by the Indian media outlet Dainik Bhaskar. The video circulated with the false claim is also included in this report.

According to the report, the incident occurred in Bijla village under the jurisdiction of Aspur Devsara Police Station in Pratapgarh district. The conflict arose from an ongoing land dispute between Hira Yadav and his neighbour, Birendra Yadav. During the conflict, individuals from Birendra Yadav’s side attacked Hira Yadav with a shovel. As a result, his head was split open, and he fell unconscious on the spot, according to the report.

Additionally, multiple reports from various Indian media outlets later confirmed the same information regarding the video. See some of those reports on Hindustan and IBC24 Jankarwan.

Therefore, a video of a conflict arising from a land dispute in India is being falsely circulated as footage of a recent conflict in Bangladesh, which is false.
