Fact-check
The Rumor Scanner Team’s investigation revealed that Nahid Islam was not recently assaulted by the public or law enforcement. Instead, a different incident’s video (where Nahid was not even present) has been used to spread this false claim.
During the investigation, a video from mainstream media outlet Jamuna TV’s YouTube channel, dated February 26, was found to be similar to the circulated video. Watch the video here.

The caption of that video states that a protest took place over the exclusion of private university students from a new student organization. However, upon reviewing the video, no evidence of Nahid Islam’s presence was found.
A related report from BBC Bangla states that a press conference was held on February 26 at Dhaka University’s Madhu’s Canteen to announce the formation of a new student organization. Reports of protests and scuffles emerged from the event.
Analysis of reports from other media outlets also failed to provide any evidence of Nahid’s presence during the incident.
Rumor Scanner later spoke to multiple journalists who were present at the scene. Hasan Shikder, a journalist from Ajker Patrika, confirmed that Nahid Islam was not there.
Additionally, no information from the media or any reliable sources has confirmed the claim that Nahid Islam was assaulted by the public, police, or military.
Therefore, the claim that Nahid Islam was beaten by the public, police, and military is false.
